Things that Go Bump in the Night

Ornery has not had a good week.

Plumbing Projects -3 Ornery -0
Headboard -1 Ornery - 0

A visit to Lowe's last night revealed that we will need to call a plumber. They think there is something blocking the drain that is causing the backup in which is irrigating our kitchen and laundry room floor with each wash load. They said it would not be advisable to block off the only remaining place for the water to go when it backed up lest we have an explosion in the wall. Fun. Sure would have been nice to know that BEFORE we set about reconfiguring the drain pipe and asphyxiating ourselves with PVC glue. Good thing we have an emergency fund!

When we returned home from Lowe's we sat down with a list to figure out what we needed to do to sell this house. We set a time frame, and listed all the little projects that need to be done for a quick and profitable sale, and decided it is time to move on.

We've talked for years about whether or not to move, but with the price of gas escalating almost daily, and the distance to work as it is, we think it might be a good thing to move a few miles closer--especially since we are going to be a one car family. We don't need as big of a house as we have, and would like to eventually build a "green" house with sustainable materials and more self-sufficient energy production. There are features about our house that we really like, and there are others that would cost more than they would be worth to remedy.

Just thinking about all that caused a disruption in Ornery's sleep pattern, I guess.

At about 3:30 this morning, I was in a semi-awake state when I heard a loud "thwak" and felt the bed move. My first thought was, "That had to have hurt!" It did. It was the sound of his fairly hard forehead hitting the corner of the very hard headboard as he bent down to pick something up off the floor by the bed. Had it been a lesser bone, say a toe, I'd probably be in the emergency room with him, and he'd be spending some time on crutches!

He's rather colorful this morning, a little scabby and not moving very fast. He didn't see stars, but I am surprised! It's a good thing today is Friday, because that poor guy needs a weekend!

Oh, poor Ornery. No rest for the weary... or those looking to sell their house. Hopefully your sell will be faster than ours.

But God is good in all things, even in taking his time in selling a house or not selling it at all. I trust that He'll provide for our every need, even as our funds are running low as well.
