It appears that this round of plumbing woes are now over, and despite the quote of $137.00 the operator gave me over the phone when I set up the appointment, the plumber must have felt sorry for me and given us a break, because he only charged $87.00.
Why did he feel sorry for me? Because he flooded the laundry room floor and part of the kitchen in his attempt to dislodge whatever foreign substance was in the drain? Because he could see what a fabulous job Ornery did replacing the drain pipe and it still wasn't working right? Because in typical male fashion he never let me complete a sentence to answer his questions? I don't know. He did vacuum up the water, but only where he could reach without moving anything, and it still left a smelly mess.
Then he left the gate open and the Queen took a little uninvited tour of the front yard. Fortunately, she didn't go far, and was awaiting the doorman to give her entrance on the front porch. Since she can't hear anymore, (a malady which occurred after her winter storm excursion) it is difficult to get her to come when we call, so she gave me quite a scare when I realized she was missing.
When I went to transfer money from the emergency fund to cover the expense, I discovered that Uncle Sam had paid a visit in the form of an incentive advance. Bonus! A couple of hours searching on line for a rental in the area we want to live proved relatively fruitless, but we've decided to rent after we sell until we find the lot we want and can have an architect design a "green" house for us. Crazy days ahead!
